Mark J. Boyd was born in Brevard County in 1982 and educated at local public schools prior to attending high school at Saint Edward's School in Vero Beach. Mr. Boyd completed his undergraduate education at Duke University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, a national academic honor society in the field of history. Prior to his legal education, Mr. Boyd also completed the Business Bridge Program at Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business. In 2008, Mr. Boyd received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he received a merit-based scholarship. During his law school years, Mr. Boyd worked as an intern for a United States Attorney's Office and also served as a youth sports coach and after-school tutor at area Boys & Girls Clubs.
Prior to returning home to Brevard County, Mr. Boyd spent close to a decade practicing law in Georgia. Mr. Boyd remains an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, as well as being an active member of The Florida Bar. Mr. Boyd began his legal career as an associate at an established civil litigation firm in Atlanta representing business clients. He then served as an Assistant District Attorney handling jury trials and appellate matters on behalf of the State for over six years. In addition to his legal pursuits during his years as a prosecutor, Mr. Boyd became active in causes including preventing childhood hunger and domestic abuse, as well as coaching high school mock trial.
In 2017, Mr. Boyd joined his father in the practice that is now Boyd & Boyd. Since that time, Mr. Boyd has relished the opportunity to work with the firm’s distinguished individual and business clientele, many of whom have relationships dating back years or even decades with his father (and some of whom even had a great impact on him as a child). Mr. Boyd has also greatly appreciated the opportunity that returning to both private practice and his home county has presented in terms of community involvement, becoming active in numerous organizations including the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors; Chair of Small Business Council; Strategic Planning Committee); City of Satellite Beach (Vice Chair of Sustainability Board); 321Millennials (Board of Directors; Membership Chair); Keep Brevard Beautiful (Board of Directors); Brevard County Estate Planning Council (Board of Directors); LEAD Brevard (Class of 2019); and the Brevard County Civilian/Military Community Relations Council.
